I am torn. I was avidly against the invasion of Iraq, yet now find myself horrified by the prospect of pulling out early and leaving an horrendous vacuum and inevitable civil war behind. This article about Bechtel’s withdrawal from the rebuilding effort does not make me feel any better.

I keep trying to leave this topic alone, but can’t quite seem to… Mo Mowlam wrote an opinion piece for the Guardian last week, and it rings painfully true. Just to pull out one line: “Under cover of the war on terrorism, the war to secure oil supplies could be waged”…
