Who would have thought it.  More from I Like on the closure of classic caffs; this time films from St Etienne and Paul Kelly.  I didn’t realise the ‘umble british caff engendered so much feeling.

Once a polly tie toe

Posted at 10:11pm on Tuesday, March 13th, 2007 by

One of my favourite albums of all time is Ogden’s Nut Gone Flake. It’s the single album from the sixties that heralds both the more Psychedelic of the baggy era (you can hear a teenage John Squires studying Long Agos and Worlds Apart) and the entirety of the “Brit Pop” movement. Seriously, read the review over at allmusic and then go buy the album…

Anyway, that wasn’t actually the point of this post… Anne over at i like is a huge Stanley Unwin fan, and has pulled together loads of tracks from the album through the power of youtube. Anne, thank you. A Stanley Unwin bonanza with a Small Faces undertow. Deep Joy.

No more blank tapes

I’ve been toying with the idea of a music blog based on youtube videos for a while (I even built one that I almost immediately gave up on for being actually not being how I wanted). Anyway. As always, wait long enough and someone else will do it better…

Enter No More Blank Tapes youtube videos collected around a theme… Fantastic.
