Best / Worst seller

Posted at 6:04pm on Friday, December 29th, 2006

Best selling album of the year fails to ship 4 million copies. Not a great surprise, but it is a rapid and consistent decline. Am I the only one that thinks that downloads don’t replace the physical product?

Patents; dontcha love em?

Posted at 11:47am on Friday, December 22nd, 2006

Yet another farcical American patent. This time it’s Microsoft attempting to patent RSS feeds and readers. Because of course, that was a Microsoft invention, wasn’t it?

Just desserts

Witnesses said the driver revved the Italian stallion at the lights next to the Windsor Hotel, at the intersection of Mends Street and Mill Point Rd, dropped the clutch and burned off around the corner - but humiliatingly lost control and slammed into the pole around 7pm.

Dead babies

Posted at 11:43am on Saturday, December 16th, 2006

While this story is itself very very disturbing (Ukraine babies in stem cell probe) what worries me more is that it will no doubt play into the tabloid/neocon hands:

I can just see the argument: “look how evil it is, we must stop all stem cell research”, rather than “look what our prohibition is creating”.

  • War on Drugs
  • War on Terror
  • and finally, the one they’ve all be moving towards, War on Science

Ah look, mate, you have to be joking

It’s a dead horse. Stop flogging it. Blood a few new players, play for pride and get the hell out of Dodge. That’s my advice anyway. Of course, Duncan Fletcher has his own view:

Coach Duncan Fletcher is still hoping that England can attain the mammoth 557 needed to win the third Ashes Test.

The best train line in the country (and the only one I have to use regularly) is stuffed and probably will end up run by the farcical Virgin Rail.
