Historic travel iconography
Posted at 12:37pm on Thursday, September 8th, 2005I don’t know why but I’ve always loved the graphics and design that surrounded travel between the wars. I like has a similar passion for historic design (with a heavy dose of whimsy) and today they point me in the direction of a massive collection of airline luggage labels from the 30s onwards. What is it about logos like this one (first on page) that make them so evocative? Is it the colours? Or is it simply the fact that “design” was so new then that what we would today call naive was cutting edge?
