Charlie Hodgson is a donkey

Words fail me. What the hell has happened? So many penalties missed. The easy drop goal for victory fluffed.

The French played an appalling first half and should have been 23 points behind at the halfway mark; they were hemorrhaging penalties in the breakdown and kicking away possession whenever they had it. The fact that we missed 6 spot kicks is horrifying. The whole team’s at fault, but Charlie Hodgson alone missed 15 points and Ollie Barkley, who kicked when Hodgson’s confidence failed him, missed another 6. Hodgson’s failings have been the cause of our downfall before; he is the distillation of English rugby at the moment - flashes of brilliance in a mire of misplaced confidence, sudden nerves and simple mistakes.

Like I said last week - this year’s Six Nations belongs to the Irish. I just didn’t think we’d come 4th.
