A less invasive solution to an old problem

Posted at 12:29pm on Thursday, September 30th, 2004 by

Subdermal RFID chips have been touted for a while as a way of getting access to medical records (see VeriChip, for example). Simpler, less invasive and less scary is Redi-Records – your medical records on a CD business card.

Ah – the nerdishness of lists

Posted at 11:35am on Thursday, September 30th, 2004 by

I’m a sucker for lists – I’m forever compiling my Desert Island Discs or my Top 10 albums… I’ve never quite got this far though. The best track from each of 10,000 bands…

A quick redirect or two, perhaps?

Posted at 12:56pm on Tuesday, September 28th, 2004 by

The Labour Party has registered 3 domain names relating to Michael Howard – www.michaelhowardmp.org, www.michaelhowardmp.net and www.michaelhowardmp.org.uk. Sneaky.

A spokesman for the Lapour Party said it did own the URLs which were to be used to “highlight Mr Howard’s record in Government”

Virgin Galactic

It had to happen, and it was likely that it would be Branson who did it… Shame the StarTrek references cheapen the whole deal slightly… The Virgin Group launch Virgin Galactic“planning to make it possible for almost anyone to visit the final frontier at an affordable price”

RIP Darren Gough

Posted at 9:58am on Sunday, September 26th, 2004 by

If we can take one thing from yesterday’s unexpected defeat it surely must be that Darren Gough’s international career is over. To find ourselves leaking runs at such a rate against tail enders when our senior ‘bowling at the death’ specialist is on is unacceptable. He looked old and tired and, sad to say, out of place in the newly invigorated England. Darren – you’ve served us well, but please step down before we have to ask you to.

I bet you haven’t registered with the Mail Preference Service or the Telephone Preference Service. You should. Stop those sodding machines ringing you up in the evening and that crap pouring through your letter box each morning. You know you want to.

The safest rest you’ve ever had

Essentially it would appear that the Quantum Sleeper is a cross between the creature comforts of a caravan, the security of a panic room and the claustrophobia of a coffin. How nice.

You have to be a certain age for this

Posted at 9:15am on Friday, September 24th, 2004 by

I remember going to the cinema to see The Last Starfighter. It was great. I loved it. I wonder if today’s 11 year olds would feel the same about The Last Starfighter – The Musical? Somehow I think not…

Brazilians

Posted at 9:04am on Friday, September 24th, 2004 by

No. Not that kind of Brazilian…

Apparently Brazil is the world hacking capital

Brazil is home to eight out of 10 of the world’s hackers; within Brazil, the amount of money lost in internet financial fraud outstrips that lost through bank robberies; roughly two-thirds of the internet’s child pornography pages are also said to originate in the country.
