Have you noticed recently how many meta searches are being returned by Google recently? (By that I mean getting results that are simply links to other searches). There’s a lot of talk in the SEO and WebMaster communities about a recent change in algorithm that appears to be the cause. Scroogle has as good an explanation as any and also a handy search engine to show the changes that have been wrought.
Six Apart have announced a security flaw in Movable Type. Not content on just killing google, apparently. Surely the popularity of MT means that bugs should be tracked somewhere more public than simply their own blog?
Just watched the tensest hour of cricket I think I’ve ever seen… England managed to hold off Sri Lanka to a draw!!!
Watching Murali and Jayasuriya bowling the last overs wanting only one wicket with Hoggard and Giles at the crease… Giles is really showing himself as a more and more ccomplished player - this series was a real test for him and it looks like he’s coming up to the mark… Maybe I’ll have to stop calling him a goat…
Not sure how to categorise this but these are the real lyrics to The Girl From Ipanema. They’re quite different from the ones that we English speakers get to hear. Turns out the author of the lyrics was a famous Brazilian poet…
On his visit to England George W. Bush goes to a primary school to talk about the war. After his talk he offers a question time. One little boy puts up his hand and the President asks him his name.
“Billy!”
“And what is your question, Billy?”
“I have 3 questions: First - why did the USA invade Iraq without the support of the UN? Second - why are you President when Al Gore got more votes? and Third - what happened to Osama Bin Laden?”
Just then the bell rings for lunch. George W. Bush informs the kiddies that they will continue after the recess.
When they resume, the President says, “Okay, where were we? Oh that’s right - question time. Who has a question?”
A different little boy puts up his hand, George points him out and asks his name.
“Steve”
“And what is your question, Steve?”
“I have 5 questions: First - why did the USA invade Iraq without the support of the UN? Second - why are you President when Al Gore got more votes? Third - what happened to Osama Bin Laden? Fourth - why did the dinner bell go 20 minutes early? and Fifth - what happened to Billy?”
Doug’s alternate headline for this story on Wired about the announcement of yet another use of ADS’s sub-dermal RFID technology as a form of payment.
This Guardian report into how STC US has attempted to silence STC UK makes for shocking reading. All brought about by a statement from Save The Children UK saying:
lack of cooperation from the coalition forces is a breach of the Geneva conventions and its protocols, but more importantly the time now being wasted is costing children their lives
And the Queen is patron of this charity, yes? Perhaps she’d like to step in and make herself useful for once? Oh… Of course… It’s only her government in name, isn’t it?
