Wahey – Zora Suleman is online…

Posted at 4:20am on Saturday, September 13th, 2003

Given the number of (rather dubious) sites dedicated to Zora’s talents it’s good to see that she’s finally put up her own site.

Tommy Chong (one half of Cheech and Chong) has been imprisoned for selling bongs online (headline: “Chong’s bongs done him wrong” – Nice!). You’d have thought they’d have got him on something before now – the guy’s 65 for God’s sake…

England squads for the winter announced – part timers included in the teams

Posted at 4:20am on Thursday, September 11th, 2003

They’ve announced the squads for the Tests and ODIs for Bangladesh and Sri Lanka…

Goughie misses out in both forms of the game (but may get a trip to the West Indies next spring). The bowling attack for the tests looks pretty iffy I have to say – Anderson, Harmison, Flintoff and Hoggard are the mainstays (which is good), but there’s no real back up. Instead there’s a few “all rounders” in the shape of Batty, Clarke, Johnson and Collingwood. The batting looks devastating though. Vaughan, Trescothick, Butcher, Hussain, Thorpe, Flintoff. That’s pretty scary. Hopefully they’ll put on big enough totals that our bowling line up can defend. That and staying injury free and we should still win both series. One injury to a main bowler though and we’re screwed.

The one day side looks even weaker on the bowling front. The addition of Kirtley is good, but the inclusion of Anderson and the ommission of Harmison and Gough surely has to be bad? Calling up fat lad Blackwell (perhaps the widest cricketer known to man) is surely a mistake as well, isn’t it? Ah well. Beating Bangladesh (particularly at one day cricket) shouldn’t be that hard. The same side up against Sri Lanka is a whole different kettle of fish. I’d still bet on us, but it ain’t as clear cut as it should be…

Guy ships himself – saves plane fare

How very weird… Bloke ships himself from New York to Texas… He got arrested at the end of it though, but they still haven’t thought of a crime to charge him with.

Weekend of sport

Posted at 4:20am on Sunday, September 7th, 2003

Just got back from London where I’ve spent the last 3 days watching England at the Oval clawing back the series from the South Africans in the most impressive style, making it look like we may actually win the match and send them home with a drawn series. Looking at the start of the summer there’s no way you would have predicted that! That and we beat the French at Twickenham last night, taking the unbeaten run at “Fortress Twickenham” to 19 games. Bloody Marvellous. Apparently we even won at that other game
